Interested in local, seasonal, farm-fresh food? The Pretzel Shop & Farmers Market in South Orange, NJ offers an easy, weekly CSA! Unlike traditional CSA's, we do not require a seasonal commitment. You can choose the frequency of your pickup throughout the season. Simply order by Sunday for the following week's “share” and pick up the following Friday at the Pretzel Shop.
What is a CSA? CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture is a direct partnership between the farm and its consumers. Typically, the consumer (or shareholder) pays the farm ahead of time in exchange for a ‘share’ or weekly box containing products from the farm. Prepayment to the farm, ensures that there is much needed incoming cashflow for seeds, equipment, and labor throughout the off season. In exchange, the farm provides shareholders with a weekly box of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.
Step 1: Choose a size: Small boxes generally feed 1-3 people, Medium 3-5 people, Large 5-7 people (because there is no long-term commitment, we suggest starting with a small box and adjusting accordingly on following orders)
Step 2: Visit the Pretzel Shop any Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday to order your CSA box for the following Friday. Can’t make it in this week? Click the link below to order your CSA box online!
Step 3: Pick up your CSA bounty the following Friday at the Pretzel Shop in South Orange, NJ. We will text you in the morning as a reminder.
Please note: All boxes not picked up on Friday will be donated to a local food pantry. We do not have the refrigerator space to hold boxes for multiple day pick ups.
About the Farm:
Norwich Meadows Farm is based in New York’s lush Chenango County, and over the past 20 years it’s become a staple at Greenmarkets in New York City and throughout the region. Known for flavor and diversity, Farmer Zaid has grown hundreds of varieties of Certified Organic vegetables, some of which are all but unknown these days.
In his words, “We produce what we believe is good for our families and thus would be good for yours. We grow food to secure for ourselves and our customers, a healthy alternative to what is presently available. We produce food that is free of harsh chemicals and is grown using natural fertilizers. We strongly believe that food should nourish and not cause any harm to our bodies or the environment”.
Norwich Meadows Farm has been dubbed the “Greenmarket go-to for high end chefs” by the NY Times and their produce can be found at top restaurants such as: Blue Hill, Contra, Wildair, Gramercy Tavern, and Eleven Madison Park.

Place your order by Sunday at 3:30 pm to have your box ready for pickup by Friday at our South Orange NJ Store.
